Gasul is No. 1 in LPG Market in 1999
Petron Gasul led the LPG industry in 1999, capturing a market share of 33 percent. This can be attributed to the Company's wide snd revitalized LPG retail sales network.
Petron Corporate Communications Manager Gabriel Mathay said Gasul's aggregate sales volume was 3,932.8 MB in 1999. This represents a 4.4 percent growth over last year's sales level.
Shell had a market share of 31.7 percent in 1999 in contrast to 35.7 percent in 1998. Meanwhile, Caltex had a market share of 16.3 percent in 1999 as against 19.1 percent in 1998.
The new entrants also made significant inroads in the industry as they registered an 18.9 percent market share with sales volume of 2,252.5 MB in 1999. This is in contrast to 1998 wherein they only held a 9.9 percent market share. The new entrants' growth could be attributed to total LPG industry growth as well as their aggressive marketing.
