AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 133, SERIES OF 1987 ENTITLED "REORGANIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY, ITS ATTACHED AGENCIES, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 133 entitled "Reorganizing the Department of Trade and Industry, its attached Agencies and for Other Purposes", was approved on 27 February 1987 pursuant to Section 16, Article XVIII of the 1987 Constitution;
WHEREAS, there are provisions in the said Executive Order which have to be clarified and revised to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the provisions thereof, including provisions pertaining to the reorganization of the said Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order:

Sec. 7. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately upon approval.

Summary of Executive Order No. 242
Amending Executive Order No. 133 on Reorganizing the Department of Trade and Industry
- Clarifies and revises provisions of Executive Order No. 133 to ensure effective and efficient implementation, including provisions pertaining to the reorganization of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Provisions:
• Section 1: Amends Section 2 of Executive Order No. 133 by revising the composition of the DTI Proper.
- The DTI Proper shall consist of the Office of the Secretary and the following staff services: Administrative Service, Financial and Management Service, and Legal Service. (Section 1)
• Section 2: Amends Section 3 of Executive Order No. 133 by revising the composition of the staff offices under the Office of the Secretary.
- The staff offices shall be the Public and Private Sectors Promotion Group, the Regional Operations Group, the Policy Formulation and International Cooperation Group, and the Technical Advisory Services Group. (Section 2)
• Section 3: Amends Section 4 of Executive Order No. 133 by revising the composition of the attached agencies and corporations of the DTI.
- The attached agencies and corporations shall be the Philippine Trade Exhibition and Convention Center, the Philippine Inventors Commission, the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines, the Philippine International Trading Corporation, and the National Cottage Industry Development Authority. (Section 3)
• Section 4: Amends Section 5 of Executive Order No. 133 by revising the composition of the Board of Investments.
- The Board of Investments shall be an attached agency of the DTI. (Section 4)
• Section 5: Amends Section 6 of Executive Order No. 133 by revising the composition of the Philippine Inventors Commission.
- The Philippine Inventors Commission shall be an attached agency of the DTI. (Section 5)
• Section 6: Amends Section 7 of Executive Order No. 133 by revising the composition of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines.
- The Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines shall be an attached agency of the DTI. (Section 6)
• Section 7: Provides that the Executive Order shall take effect immediately upon approval.
