Summary of Executive Order No. 322

Amending Executive Order No. 193 on the WTO/AFTA Advisory Commission

- Inclusion of APEC (Section 1)
  - The Commission shall address concerns related to the Philippines' participation in APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) in addition to WTO and AFTA.

- Composition of the Commission (Section 2)
  - The members of the Commission on the part of the government shall remain the same as provided in Section 2 of Executive Order No. 193.

- Separability Clause (Section 3)
  - If any provision or part of this Order is declared unconstitutional, the other provisions or parts not affected shall remain in full force and effect.

- Repealing Clause (Section 4)
  - Any order, issuance, rule, or regulation inconsistent with this Order is hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

- Effectivity Clause (Section 5)
  - This Order shall take effect immediately.

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 322 April 10, 1996 AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 193, s. 1994 WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 193 issued on 02 August 1994, established under the Office of the President, the WTO/AFTA Advisory Commission, hereinafter referred to as the Commission for brevity, to undertake, among others, the identification and the recommendation of the appropriate strategies and measures for advancing, promoting, and/or defending the interests of the Philippines in the new rule-based international and regional trading arrangements under the auspices of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the ASEAN FREE TRADE AREA (AFTA), respectively; WHEREAS, the Commission has been providing the venue where the private sector representatives in the Commission can discuss and recommend the sources of action that the government should undertake in order to make the policies relevant to the needs of the private sector; WHEREAS, the Philippines is actively involved in the activities of the fast-emerging regional economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, now known as the ASIA-PACIFIC ECONOMIC COOPERATION or APEC; WHEREAS, the WTO, AFTA, and APEC have the common objective...
