AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF ARAKAN IN THE PROVINCE OF COTABATO

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled::

Section 1. Barangays Allab, Anapolan, Badiangon, Binongan, Doroluman, Ganatan, Greenfield, Kabalantian, Katipunan, Sto Niño, Makalangot, Malibatuan, Maria Caridad, Meocan, Naje, Napalico, Salasang, and Tumanding, all in the Municipality of Magpet, Province of Cotabato, are hereby separated from their municipality and constituted into a distinct and independent municipality in the Province of Cotabato to be known as the Municipality of Arakan.

Section 2. The new municipality shall be bounded as follows:

The point of beginning is the junction of Kulaman and Tinanan River which is the common point boundary of the Municipalities of Magpet and President Roxas, point 1; thence, following the said boundary of Magpet and President Roxas through the upstream course of Kulaman River to its intersection with the Cotabato-Bukidnon provincial boundary, point 2;...

Summary of Republic Act No. 7152

Creation of the Municipality of Arakan in the Province of Cotabato
- Separates the following barangays from the Municipality of Magpet and constitutes them into the new Municipality of Arakan: Allab, Anapolan, Badiangon, Binongan, Doroluman, Ganatan, Greenfield, Kabalantian, Katipunan, Sto Niño, Makalangot, Malibatuan, Maria Caridad, Meocan, Naje, Napalico, Salasang, and Tumanding. (Section 1)
- Defines the boundaries of the new municipality. (Section 2)
- Designates the present Barangay Greenfield as the seat of government. (Section 3)
- Includes all other barangays and sitios within the technical description but not specified in Section 1. (Section 4)
- Requires a plebiscite to be conducted within 120 days from the approval of the Act, where the first mayor, vice-mayor, and other officials will be elected in the next regular election of local officials if ratified by the majority of votes cast. (Section 5)
- Mandates the Commission on Election to conduct and supervise the plebiscite, with expenses taken from the Contingent Fund under the current fiscal year appropriations. (Section 6)
- Specifies the effectivity date as upon approval of the Act. (Section 7)
