EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 522 February 6, 1979

CREATING A STEERING COMMITTEE FOR THE FIFTH SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT (UNCTAD V)

WHEREAS, the Philippine Government will host the fifth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD V) in Manila from May 3 to June 1, 1979 as approved by the United Nations General Assembly in 1976 at its 32nd session;

WHEREAS, intensified preparations are already being undertaken, pursuant to Executive Order No. 497 dated 31 January 1978, to the end that the fifth session of the UNCTAD can bring the desired results to the country and to the international community, particularly the developing countries; and

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to create a Steering Committee that will exercise overall policy direction, control and coordination of the various activities for UNCTAD V;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order and establish the Steering Committee...

Creation of Steering Committee for UNCTAD V
- Creates a Steering Committee to exercise overall policy direction, control, and coordination of activities for the Fifth Session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD V) to be held in Manila from May 3 to June 1, 1979.
- The Committee is composed of the following members:
    - Honorary Chairman: Mrs. Imelda Romualdez Marcos
    - Chairman: Minister Carlos P. Romulo
    - Vice-Chairman: Minister Cesar Virata
    - Co-Vice-Chairman: Minister Troadio T. Quiazon, Jr.
