Summary of Republic Act No. 11736Establishment of a Multi-Species Marine Hatchery
- A multi-species marine hatchery shall be established in the Municipality of Basilisa, Province of Dinagat Islands, under the supervision of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of the Department of Agriculture (BFAR-DA). (Section 1)
- The BFAR-DA shall transfer the management of the hatchery to the local government of Basilisa within two (2) years after its construction through a memorandum of agreement. (Section 2)
- The BFAR-DA shall implement a training and phasing-in program for the personnel of the local government unit on the management and operation of the hatchery. (Section 2)
- The BFAR-DA shall conduct continuing research and experimentation on the breeding and production of marine species, especially as they apply to local conditions, to discover new methods and technology that shall benefit the fisheries industry. (Section 2)
Funding and Appropriations
- The Secretary of Agriculture shall include the establishment of the multi-species marine hatchery in the Department's programs, and its funding shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act. (Section 3)
- The local government unit of Basilisa shall set aside funds from any available revenue in an amount deemed appropriate for the operationalization of the hatchery. (Section 3)
Rules and Regulations
- Within sixty (60) days from the effectivity of this Act, the Secretary of Agriculture shall issue the rules and regulations on the supervision, operation, monitoring, and the eventual transfer of the management of the multi-species marine hatchery to the local government of Basilisa. (Section 4)
Effectivity
- This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. (Section 5)

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11736
AN ACT ESTABLISHING A MULTI-SPECIES MARINE HATCHERY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BASILISA, PROVINCE OF DINAGAT ISLANDS, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR
SECTION 1. There shall be established, under the supervision of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of the Department of Agriculture (BFAR-DA), a multi-species marine hatchery in the Municipality of Basilisa, Province of Dinagat Islands.
SECTION 2. The BFAR-DA shall transfer the management of the multi-species marine hatchery to the local government of Basilisa, within two (2) years after its construction through a memorandum of agreement. The BFAR-DA shall implement a training and phasing-in program for the personnel of the local government unit concerned on the management and operation of the multi-species marine hatchery.
The BFAR-DA shall conduct continuing research and experimentation on the breeding and production of marine species, especially as they apply to local conditions, to discover new methods and technology that shall benefit the fisheries industry.
