PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 724 June 3, 1975

FURTHER AMENDING SECTION SIXTEEN HUNDRED SEVENTY FOUR OF THE REVISED ADMINISTRATIVE CODE AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the government to ensure the swift dispensation of justice;

WHEREAS, there is a need to restate this policy by establishing an effective prosecution service in the recently created provinces in Mindanao; and

WHEREAS, the steady population growth in some other provinces makes it necessary to increase the present number of prosecutors therein;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution do hereby order and decree:

Section 1. The following sub-paragraphs in Section Sixteen Hundred and Seventy-Four of the Revised Administrative Code relative to the number of assistant provincial fiscals in the following provinces are hereby amended to read as follows:

"Occidental Negros, ten assistant provincial fiscals"

"Oriental Negros, nine assistant provincial fiscals"

"Rizal, twenty-eight assistant provincial fiscals"

Summary of Presidential Decree No. 724

Policy and Purpose
- To ensure the swift dispensation of justice. (Preamble)
- To establish an effective prosecution service in the newly created provinces in Mindanao. (Preamble)
- To increase the number of prosecutors in provinces with steady population growth. (Preamble)

Amendments to Section 1674 of the Revised Administrative Code
- The number of assistant provincial fiscals in the following provinces is amended:
    - Occidental Negros: 10 assistant provincial fiscals. (Section 1)
    - Oriental Negros: 9 assistant provincial fiscals. (Section 1)
    - Rizal: 28 assistant provincial fiscals. (Section 1)
- The following provinces are added with the specified number of assistant provincial fiscals:
    - Basilan: 1 assistant provincial fiscal. (Section 2)
    - Maguindanao: 2 assistant provincial fiscals. (Section 2)
    - Sultan Kudarat: 2 assistant provincial fiscals. (Section 2)
    - Tawi-Tawi: 2 assistant provincial fiscals. (Section 2)

Salaries and Appropriations
- The assistant provincial fiscals shall receive the salaries provided by law for said positions. (Section 3)
- Funds necessary for the salaries of the positions created in this Decree are appropriated from the National Treasury. (Section 4)
- Thereafter, the necessary funds shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Decree. (Section 4)

Repealing and Effectivity Clauses
- All laws, executive orders, rules and regulations inconsistent with this Decree are repealed or modified accordingly. (Section 5)
- This Decree shall take effect immediately. (Section 6)
