Executive Order No. 334

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 334 August 18, 1988

INSTITUTING THE PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE

I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby institute the Presidential Awards For Outstanding Public Service, known as the:

a. Lingkod Bayan Award, and

b. Silangan Award,

to be awarded to individuals or groups of individuals in the government service who have rendered outstanding public service.

The Silangan Award shall be conferred on an individual or group of individuals who are thirty (30) years of age or below.

Government employees who have consistently displayed outstanding qualities that inspire other employees to improve the quality of work performance and stimulate deeper involvement in government affairs shall be considered for the Presidential Awards For Outstanding Public Service.

The Presidential Awards For Outstanding Public Service may, by authority of the President, also be conferred by the Executive Secretary or by the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission.

Presidential Awards For Outstanding Public Service

- Silangan Award is for individuals or groups aged 30 years or below (Section 1)

  • Rendered outstanding public service (Section 1)

- Awards can be conferred by:
  • The President (Section 4)

- Awards are in the form of:
  • Gold medallion (Section 5)
  • Plaque with citation and President's signature (Section 5)
- Civil Service Commission shall:
  • Promulgate rules and regulations concerning the awards (Section 6)
  • Prescribe design and specifications of plaque and medallion (Section 6)
  • Prescribe manner of wearing the medallion (Section 6)
  • Coordinate with National Historical Institute (Section 6)
  • Get approval from the President for rules and regulations (Section 6)
- Executive Order took effect immediately (Section 7)
