EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 204 June 30, 1987
MODIFYING THE COMPOSITION OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES SYSTEM, FURTHER AMENDING PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 58, AS AMENDED
WHEREAS, in view of the Congress under the 1987 Constitution, the composition of the Board of Regents of the University of the Philippines System must be modified to restore the membership of the Chairmen of the Committees on Education of the Senate and House of Representatives;
WHEREAS, there is a need to provide for faculty representation in the Board of Regents in the same manner as the students are represented by one Regent;
WHEREAS, the present membership of certain government officials in the Board of Regents is no longer imperative in view of the first Congress under the 1987 Constitution and the appointment of a faculty representative;

Executive Order No. 204
Modifying the Composition of the Board of Regents of the University of the Philippines System
- Restores the membership of the Chairmen of the Committees on Education of the Senate and House of Representatives in the Board of Regents (Sec. 1)
- Provides for faculty representation in the Board of Regents, with one Regent representing the Faculty to be appointed by the President of the Philippines (Sec. 1)
- Removes the membership of certain government officials in the Board of Regents (Sec. 1)
- Reduces the number of other Regents to be appointed by the President of the Philippines to five, with at least three being alumni of the University (Sec. 1)
Composition of the Board of Regents:
- Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports, as Chairman (Sec. 1)
- President of the University of the Philippines System, as Vice-Chairman (Sec. 1)
- Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Sec. 1)
- Chairman of the House Committee on Education (Sec. 1)
- President of the U.P. Alumni Association (Sec. 1)
- One Regent representing the Faculty, appointed by the President of the Philippines (Sec. 1)
- One Regent representing the Student Body, appointed by the President of the Philippines (Sec. 1)
- Five other Regents appointed by the President of the Philippines, at least three of whom are alumni of the University (Sec. 1)
- Amends Act No. 1870, as amended, accordingly (Sec. 2)
- Repeals or modifies all laws, orders, issuances, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with this Executive Order (Sec. 3)
- Takes effect immediately (Sec. 4)
