MODIFYING THE RATES OF IMPORT DUTY ON CERTAIN IMPORTED ARTICLES AS PROVIDED UNDER PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1464, AS AMENDED, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE MARGINS OF PREFERENCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ASEAN AGREEMENT ON PRESIDENTIAL TRADING ARRANGEMENTS WITH RESPECT TO CERTAIN ARTICLES NEGOTIATED DURING THE SEVENTEENTH MEETING OF THE ASEAN COMMITTEE ON TRADE AND TOURISM

Pursuant to the powers vested in me by Section 402 of Presidential Decree No. 1464, as amended, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby direct and order that:

Sec. 1. The articles specifically listed hereunder as classified under Section 104 of Presidential Decree No. 1464, as amended, shall be accorded the margins of preference as specified in Column 5. In effect, such articles shall be subject to the Presidential Tariff for ASEAN in accordance with the schedule indicated opposite each articles as specified in Columns 6-7.

(Sec. 1) • Tapes for magnetic sound recording in cassette (ex 92.12 --- 100): Additional 10% margin of preference, 30% ASEAN Preferential Tariff effective August 7, 1984 and January 1, 1985. (Sec. 1) Automatic Adjustment of Margins of Preference • If there are subsequent changes in the basic Philippine rate of duty on the above-mentioned articles, the corresponding margins of preference indicated in Column 5 shall automatically be accorded. (Sec. 2) Effectivity and Qualification • After the date of effectivity (August 7, 1984), all the above-described articles entered or withdrawn from warehouse in the Philippines for consumption shall be subject to the prescribed import duty rates, subject to qualification under the Rules of Origin specified in the Agreement on ASEAN Preferential Trading Arrangements ratified on August 1, 1977. (Sec. 3) • This Order shall take effect on August 7, 1984.
