SUSPENDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 782, SERIES OF 1982, IN ADDITION TO THE PROVISIONS THEREOF SUSPENDED UNDER EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 354, SERIES OF 1989
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 354, Series of 1989, suspended the provisions of Section 2, paragraph 3 and 4 of Executive Order No. 782, Series of 1982, and the provisions of Section 2 (2) (b) thereof insofar as used diesel engines are concerned, for the purpose of alleviating the shortage of buses, trucks and engines;
WHEREAS, to achieve the said purpose it is necessary to suspend likewise the provisions of Executive Order No. 782 which prescribe the gross vehicular weights (GVW) and age of used trucks that can be imported, as well as the provisions which prescribe the capacity and age of used gasoline engines that can be imported;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby suspended:

Suspension of Certain Provisions of Executive Order No. 782
- Suspends the implementation of Section 2 (2) (a) and Section 2 (2) (b) of Executive Order No. 782.
- Section 2 (2) (a) prohibited the importation of used trucks with rated gross vehicular weights (GVW) greater than 40,000 lbs. and models not more than six (6) years old. (Sec. 1)
- Section 2 (2) (b) prohibited the importation of used diesel and gasoline engines with rated capacities greater than 150 horsepower and models not more than five (5) years old. (Sec. 1)
Guidelines for Implementation
- The Inter-Agency Committee on Used Trucks and Engines (IAC-UTE) in the Department of Trade and Industry shall prescribe and promulgate guidelines for implementing this Executive Order and Executive Order No. 354. (Sec. 2)
- The guidelines shall cover the weight capacity, age, and other necessary specifications for the importation of used trucks, used passenger/tourist buses, and used engines. (Sec. 2)
- The guidelines shall consider the need to alleviate the shortage of buses, trucks, and engines, as well as the safety of the riding public/end users and the public in general. (Sec. 2)
Effective Date
- This Executive Order shall take effect immediately. (Sec. 3)
