EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 746 March 1, 1981

UPGRADING THE SALARIES OF LAWYER POSITIONS AND CERTAIN OFFICIALS IN THE OFFICE OF THE TANODBAYAN

WHEREAS, the Office of the Tanodbayan was created under Presidential Decree No. 1487, as amended by Presidential Decree Nos. 1607 and 1630, to carry into effect the constitutional mandate of providing the people a machinery through which they may petition the Government for redress of grievances and as a means to promote higher standards of integrity and efficiency in the government service;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to keep the personnel morale high in the Tanodbayan and in that regard, to align the salaries of lawyers and special investigators in the Office of the Tanodbayan with those lawyers, investigators and agents in the Ministry of Justice who were granted special salary increases under Presidential Decree No. 1726;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order and direct:

Summary of Executive Order No. 746

Upgrading the Salaries of Lawyer Positions and Certain Officials in the Office of the Tanodbayan

- The Office of the Tanodbayan was created to provide a mechanism for redressing grievances and promoting integrity and efficiency in government service. (Preamble)
- It is necessary to keep personnel morale high in the Tanodbayan by aligning the salaries of lawyers and special investigators with those in the Ministry of Justice who received special salary increases. (Preamble)

Salary Increases (Section 1):
- Tanodbayan: P75,000 annual salary
- Deputy Tanodbayan: P67,896 annual salary
- Executive Director: P58,476 annual salary
- Directors of Prosecution and Investigation, Legal, Administrative, and Finance, Management and Planning Offices: P52,944 annual salary
- Special Prosecutors: P50,376 annual salary
- Chief Legal Officers: P47,928 annual salary
- Investigators: P47,928 annual salary
- Legal Officers II: P41,292 annual salary
- Trial Attorneys: P37,380 annual salary
- Legal Officers I: P32,196 annual salary
- Legal Researcher: P26,388 annual salary

Implementation (Section 2):
- The Minister of the Budget shall formulate and issue the necessary procedures, rules, and regulations to carry out this Executive Order.

Funding (Section 3):
- The amounts necessary to cover the salary increases shall be drawn from salary lapses and other personal services savings of the Office of the Tanodbayan.

Effective Date (Section 4):
- The salary increases shall be effective on March 1, 1981.
