Summary of Republic Act No. 9232Conversion of Antipolo into a Component City
- The municipality of Antipolo is converted into a component city to be known as the City of Antipolo. (Section 1)
- The City of Antipolo comprises the present territory of the municipality, covering 16 barangays divided into two districts: First District and Second District. (Section 1)
- The provision is without prejudice to the resolution of existing or future boundary disputes involving the 16 barangays and adjoining municipalities. (Section 1)
Composition of the Sangguniang Panlungsod
- The Sangguniang Panlungsod (legislative body) is composed of: (Section 2)
- The city vice mayor as the presiding officer
- 16 regular Sanggunian members elected by district (8 from First District, 8 from Second District)
- The president of the city chapter of the Liga ng mga Barangay
- The president of the Panlungsod na Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan
- Sectoral representatives
Legislative Districts
- The City of Antipolo shall have two legislative districts for the next national elections after the effectivity of this Act. (Section 3)
- The First District comprises the barangays of Bagong Nayon, Beverly Hills, De la Paz, Mambugan, Mayamot, Munting Dilao, San Isidro, and Sta. Cruz. (Section 3)
- The Second District comprises the barangays of Calawis, Cupang, Dalig, Inarawan, San Jose, San Juan, San Luis, and San Roque. (Section 3)
- Each district is entitled to one representative in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Rizal. (Section 3)
Repealing Clause and Effectivity
- All laws, executive orders, regulations, or parts thereof inconsistent with this Act are repealed or modified accordingly. (Section 4)
- This Act shall take effect 15 days after its publication in at least two newspapers of general circulation in the Philippines. (Section 5)

AN ACT AMENDING SECTIONS 2, 11 (A) AND 55 OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED EIGHTY-FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHT ENTITLED "AN ACT CONVERTING THE MUNICIPALITY OF ANTIPOLO INTO A COMPONENT CITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF ANTIPOLO." AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Section 2 of Republic Act No. 8508, otherwise known as the Charter of the City of Antipolo is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2. The City of Antipolo. - The Municipality of Antipolo is hereby converted into a component of city to be known as the City of Antipolo, hereinafter referred to as the City, which shall comprise of the present territory of the Municipality of Antipolo, Rizal, covering the sixteen (16) barangays of both First District of Antipolo,...
