- A new passport may be issued to replace an expired one, with the old passport being returned and canceled. (Section 1)
Implementing Authority
- The Department of Foreign Affairs shall issue necessary implementing rules and regulations. (Section 2)
- The DFA shall adopt best practices to ensure seamless, convenient, and pro-people passport processing system. (Section 2)
- The DFA shall ensure passport production and security are at par with technological advances and world standards. (Section 2)
Other Provisions
- If any part of the Act is declared unconstitutional or invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. (Section 3)
- All laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, or issuances inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed or modified accordingly. (Section 4)
- The Act shall take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or a national newspaper of general circulation. (Section 5)

AN ACT EXTENDING THE VALIDITY OF PHILIPPINE PASSPORTS, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE SECTION 10 OF REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8239, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE “PHILIPPINE PASSPORT ACT OF 1996", AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate House of Representatives of Philippines in Congress assembled:
Section 1. Section 10 of Republic Act No. 8239, otherwise known as the "Philippine Passport Act of 1996" is hereby amended to read as follows:
SEC. 10.
