Summary of the Strategic Trade Management Act (STMA)

Title and Policy Declaration (Sections 1-2)

Definitions (Section 5)

Implementing Structure and Mechanism (Sections 6-9)

REPUBLIC ACT No. 10697 AN ACT PREVENTING THE PROLIFERATION OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION BY MANAGING THE TRADE IN STRATEGIC GOODS, THE PROVISION OF RELATED SERVICES, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled: CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS SECTION 1. Title. – This Act shall be known as the “Strategic Trade Management Act (STMA)”. SECTION 2. Declaration of Policy. – It is declared a policy of the State to be free from Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in its territory, consistent with the national interest, to fulfill its international commitments and obligations, including United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1540, to take and enforce effective measures to establish domestic controls to prevent the proliferation of WMDs and their means of delivery; and to maintain international peace and security, and promote economic growth...
