Amendments to Commonwealth Act No. 63 on Loss of Philippine Citizenship
- Section 1 of Commonwealth Act No. 63, as amended by Republic Act No. 106, is further amended by adding the following provision:
• A natural-born Filipino citizen who acquires citizenship from one of the Iberian and any friendly democratic Ibero-American countries shall not lose or forfeit their Philippine citizenship, provided that: (Section 1)
    • The law of the foreign country grants the same privilege to its citizens; and
    • Such privilege has been agreed upon by treaty between the Philippines and the foreign country from which citizenship is acquired.

Effectivity
• This Act shall take effect upon its approval. (Section 2)

REPUBLIC ACT No. 2639 AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION ONE OF COMMONWEALTH ACT NUMBERED SIXTY-THREE, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO LOSS OF CITIZENSHIP. Section 1. Section one of Commonwealth Act Numbered Sixty-three, as amended by Republic Act Numbered One hundred six, is further amended by adding at the end thereof the following paragraph: "The provisions of this section notwithstanding, the acquisition of citizenship by a natural born Filipino citizen from one of the Iberian and any friendly democratic Ibero-American countries shall not produce loss or forfeiture of his Philippine citizenship if the law of that country grants the same privilege to its citizens and such had been agreed upon by treaty between the Philippines and the foreign country from which citizenship is acquired." Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. Approved: June 18, 1960
