September 7, 2017POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 009-17TO: All Concerned   SUBJECT: 3rd International Employers Awards Presidential Proclamation Nos. 199 and 270, both issued in 2002 provided for the creation of the International Maritime Employers Awards and the International Employers Awards. The 2016 Revised POEA Rules and Regulations Governing the Recruitment and Employment of Land-based Overseas Filipino Workers and Filipino Seafarers provided for the conferment of Employers Awards for both the landbased and seabased sectors. In line with this, all deserving international companies, individuals and foreign principals/employers who have been major providers of decent and quality employment to Filipino overseas workers and seafarers and who have significantly contributed to their development as well as the protection and promotion of their well-being may qualify for the said awards. The 2016 POEA Rules and Regulations provides for a two-tiered award system for principal/employers, namely: (1) Ministerial Award of Commendation; and (2) Presidential Award of Distinction.
