Advisory on the Payment of Employees' Compensation (EC) Benefits in the Private Sector

January 25, 2017ECC CIRCULAR NO. 001-17ADVISORY ON THE PAYMENT OF EMPLOYEES' COMPENSATION (EC) BENEFITS IN THE PRIVATE SECTORThe following advisory is hereby issued in relation to the payment of EC benefits in the private sector: 1. The SSS shall facilitate the payment of EC disability, death and funeral benefits directly to the covered members and/or their qualified beneficiaries.2. The payment of sickness benefits by the employer and the corresponding reimbursement by the SSS are applicable only for SSS sickness benefits (not EC sickness benefit) in accordance with R.A. No. 8282 ("Social Security Law of 1997").3. Claim for EC benefits from employers for their employees may only be allowed for EC medical reimbursement and only in case the employer has paid the medical expenses of the employee for work-related sickness or injuries as provided under Circular No. 07-018 dated July 30, 2014.For further information on Employees' Compensation Program (ECP), kindly visit the ECC website: www.ecc.gov.ph.For guidance of all concerned.Done in the City of Makati this 25th day of January 2017.
