NO. 114-11, AMENDED RULES AND REGULATIONS IMPLEMENTING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6982, TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF MATERNITY AND DEATH BENEFITS UNDER THE SOCIAL AMELIORATION PROGRAM IN THE SUGAR INDUSTRYPursuant to the authority vested in the Secretary of Labor and Employment under Section 11 of the Republic Act No. 6982, otherwise known as the Sugar Amelioration Act of 1991, and upon the recommendation of the Sugar Tripartite Council through its Resolution No. 01-16, Rule IX, Section 2.1. Amount of Maternity Benefit and Section 3.1. Amount of Death Benefit of D.O. 114-11 are hereby amended to effect an increase in the amount of said benefits from P2,000.00 to P5,000.00 for the maternity benefit and from P7,000.00 to P10,000.00 for the death benefit, respectively. The increase has been recommended considering that the cost of hospital expenses and expenses for funeral services have consistently increased over the years and the monetary value of the said benefits, which have remained unchanged over the last 15 years, have been eroded by inflation.The proposed...
