Demand for Filipino Workers in Trinidad and Tobago Rises

The booming economy which has led to the acute labor shortage has prompted the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) to approve permits for hoteliers to bring in Filipino workers. Orville London, Chief Secretary of the THA, said the island's booming economy has produced "almost full employment" for their people. Thus, the government is looking at foreign labor to man their industries.According to the report, permits to hire Filipino workers are issued to hoteliers who make a commitment, among others, to train Tobagonians who will eventually replace the Filipino workers.
