March 5, 2014GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 03-14WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10022 authorizes the POEA Governing Board, after consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), to impose a ban on the deployment of Filipino migrant workers in pursuit of national interest or when public welfare so requires;WHEREAS, on 03 March 2014, DFA raised the crisis Alert Level 2 (Restriction Phase) in Ukraine in view of the ongoing tensions in the said areas; WHEREAS, under Alert Level 2, only the processing and deployment of returning OFWs with existing employment contracts shall be allowed and the processing and deployment of newly-hired OFWs shall be suspended;NOW THEREFORE, the POEA Governing Board, in a meeting duly convened, RESOLVES AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to impose a temporary suspension on the processing and deployment of newly-hired OFWs bound for Ukraine.For immediate compliance. aHTEIADone in the City of Manila, this 5th day of March 2014.(SGD.)
