September 25, 2020GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 14-20WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10022 authorizes the POEA Governing Board, after consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), to impose a ban on the deployment of Filipino migrant workers in pursuit of national interest or when public welfare so requires; HTcADCWHEREAS, in a letter dated 15 September 2020, the DFA informed the DOLE that it has raised Alert Level 2 (Restriction Phase) in the Republic of Mali due to the recent military coup that led to the detention and resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita;WHEREAS, the current political instability in the country worsens an already dangerous security situation where extremist groups continue to operate;WHEREAS, under Alert Level 2, the processing and deployment of workers shall be allowed only for OFWs returning to their current employers with existing employment contracts.
