July 23, 2014GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 18-14WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10022 authorizes the POEA Governing Board, after consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), to impose a ban on the deployment of Filipino migrant workers in pursuit of national interest or when public welfare so requires; WHEREAS, on 21 July 2014, the DFA informed the POEA Governing Board in its letter to the Secretary of Labor and Employment that it has raised the Crisis Alert Level in the Gaza Strip to Crisis Alert Level 4 (Mandatory Repatriation) in view of the growing security concerns in Israel and Palestine due to the recent Israel-Hamas conflict; andWHEREAS, under Alert Level 4, a total ban on the processing and deployment of all workers is imposed and that the DOLE Quick Response Team is directed to closely coordinate with the DFA on the immediate and safe repatriation of OFWs in the Gaza Strip;NOW, WHEREFORE, the POEA Governing Board, in a meeting duly convened, RESOLVES AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to impose a total ban on the processing and...
