December 8, 2014GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 28-14WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10022 authorizes the POEA Governing Board, after consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), to impose a ban on the deployment of Filipino migrant workers in pursuit of national interest or when public welfare so requires; WHEREAS, POEA Governing Board Resolution (GBR) No. 14, Series of 2014 dated 04 July 2014 was issued imposing a temporary suspension on the processing and deployment of newly-hired OFWs to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, and allow the processing and deployment of vacationing/returning workers to the above-cited countries, due to the spread of an extremely contagious disease, the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the said countries;WHEREAS, the DFA, in its letter dated 27 November 2014, informed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that effective 01 December 2014, the Crisis Alert Level in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone is further raised from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriation) in view of the continued spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in West Africa and the decision...
