January 23, 2014DOLE DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 135-14GUIDELINES IMPLEMENTING THE EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE FOR SUGAR WORKERS AFFECTED BY SUPER TYPHOON "YOLANDA"In view of the government's overall effort to provide immediate rehabilitation of areas affected by super typhoon Yolanda and to support the immediate operation of affected sugar mills and repair of support infrastructures necessary for early recovery of affected sugarcane milling districts that will provide wage employment to affected sugar workers, the following are issued for the guidance of DOLE Regional Offices 6, 7 and 8. I. Objectives:General:To provide temporary assistance for employment and income to sugar workers who were affected by super typhoon "Yolanda".Specific:1. Provide affected sugar workers with alternative employment and income to meet their basic food requirements;2. Assist affected sugar mills and sugar farmers to lessen economic impact of calamity; and cSCADE3. Assist in the immediate restoration and rehabilitation of support infrastructures in sugarcane farm communities and/or milling districts.II. Covered Areas:Affected sugar mills and sugarcane farm communities in Regions 6 (Panay and Negros Occidental), 7 (Bogo-Medellin, Cebu) and 8 (Ormoc, Leyte).III. Covered Beneficiaries:Displaced...
