January 28, 2009DOLE ADVISORY NO. 001-09IMPLEMENTING THE YOUTH EDUCATION-YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY PROJECT UNDER THE WORKING YOUTH CENTER PROGRAMPursuant to the DOLE Mandate to develop human resource, promote gainful employment opportunities, protect workers and promote their welfare and consistent with the DOLE Roadmap 2008-2010 and the Philippine Program for Youth Development and Employment 2008-2010, this Department issues this Advisory on the implementation of the Youth Education-Youth Employability (YE-YE) Project. HDCTAcStudies show that lack of education is strongly linked to poverty. Quality education is expensive. Youth unemployment, underemployment as well as "under-education" persist, even among some tertiary education graduates. Hence, the immediate need to create more opportunities for the youth to study and to enhance their employability, to get educational assistance, and to have some kind of work-related experience before they join the labor force.The Bureau of Women and Young Workers (BWYW) and the DOLE Regional Offices shall manage and implement the YE-YE Project, a training opportunity under the WYC Program, particularly through the Capability Building and Referral Services components.
