February 11, 2008POEA MARKET UPDATE NO. 03-08ISRAEL ADOPTS NEW BIOMETRIC IDENTIFICATION CARDSThe Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv reported that the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor (MOITL) will soon issue biometric Identification Cards to foreign workers in Israel in pursuance to the new employment scheme for the caregiving sector approved by the Supreme Court of Justice on 27 January 2008. The new ID card is one of the measures that the MOITL will adopt to ensure close supervision over foreign guest workers in Israel. HSCATcThe new card will contain all the identifying details and permits received by the foreign worker. With the card, the MOITL also hopes to prevent the illegal transfer of foreign workers from one employer to another.
