August 3, 2009DOLE ADVISORY NO. 005-09TO:All Manning Agencies, Training Centers and Maritime Agencies   SUBJECT:Law on the Penalization of Acts of Piracy and Measures Against Acts of Piracy of Japan The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) was furnished a copy by the Office of the Undersecretary of Special and Ocean Concerns of the provisional English translation of the Law on Punishment of and Measures against Acts of Piracy which was enacted by the Japanese Diet. The Law aims to ensure the protection of Japan-flagged vessels and those of other countries which have been constantly under threat of hijacking off the coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden. The copy of the law can be accessed from our website at http://www.dole.gov.ph/.
