Temporary Moratorium in the Deployment of Workers to the State of Qatar

June 7, 2017DEPARTMENT ADVISORY NO. 001-17TO:All Concerned   SUBJECT:Temporary Moratorium in the Deployment of Workers to the State of Qatar Due to the political situation in the State of Qatar, this Department has deemed it prudent to impose a temporary moratorium in the deployment of newly-hired workers to that country until we have obtained a full understanding of the situation and its ramifications, especially as to how it will affect our Overseas Filipino Workers and other Filipinos there. This temporary moratorium covers OFWs who will be deployed for the first time to the State of Qatar, the processing of whose OEC applications will be held in abeyance until the situation normalizes, or until further advice by the Department of Foreign Affairs with which this department is closely coordinating with.This temporary moratorium takes effect immediately and will be in place until further notice.We will constantly monitor the situation and will issue the appropriate Advisories from time to time, and a Rapid Response Team has been constituted for this main purpose.Meanwhile, utmost patience and understanding from the public...
