2006THE EMPLOYEES' COMPENSATION COMMISSIONThe Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC) is a government agency mandated by law to provide meaningful and appropriate compensation to workers in the event of work-related contingencies. Its main functions are to formulate policies and guidelines for the effective implementation of the employees' compensation program, to review and decide on EC claims denied by the Systems (SSS and GSIS) and appealed by the claimants, and to initiate policies and programs towards adequate occupational health and safety and accident prevention in the work environment. The ECC is a government corporation. It is attached to the Department of Labor and Employment for policy coordination and guidance.As an organization, the ECC is composed of the Commission Proper and the Secretariat. SECATHThe Commission Proper has seven members, five are ex-officio, and two are appointed by the President for a term of six years.
