January 3, 1997POEA MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 001-96WAGE RATE FOR FILIPINO ABLE SEAMANPursuant to Department Order No. 36, s. of 1996, the minimum basic wage of US$335 per month for able seaman shall take effect fifteen (15) days after publication of this Circular in a newspaper of general circulation.All shipowners and principals are enjoined to make the necessary adjustments on the basic wages of affected positions to avoid distortion in the pay scale of the crew.For strict compliance.Adopted: 03 January 1997(SGD.)
