- Prohibition on Importation, Manufacture or Assembly of Certain Vehicles
• Section 1 prohibits the importation, manufacture or assembly of gasoline-powered passenger motor cars with engine displacement over 2,800 cubic centimeters or kerbweight exceeding 1,500 kilograms, including accessories. (Sec. 1)
• This prohibition does not apply to the importation, ownership and operation of passenger motor cars by diplomatic and consular establishments and personnel of foreign governments and international organizations. (Sec. 1)
- Effective Date
• This Executive Order takes effect immediately. (Sec. 2)

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 253 July 25, 1987
AMENDING BATAS PAMBANSA BLG. 73
I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby order:
Sec. 1. Section 3(a) of Batas Pambansa Blg. 73, entitled "An Act to Further Promote Energy Conservation and For Other Purposes" is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(a) The importation, manufacture or assembling of gasoline-powered passenger motor cars with engine displacement of over 2,800 cubic centimeters or kerbweight exceeding 1,500 kilograms, including accessories.
This prohibition, however, shall not apply to the importation, ownership and operation of passenger motor cars by the diplomatic and consular establishments and personnel of foreign Governments and international organizations."
Sec. 2. This executive Order shall take effect immediately.
Done in the City of Manila, this 25th day of July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-seven.
