Summary of Republic Act No. 9229

Amending the Composition of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) of Parañaque City
- The Sangguniang Panlungsod shall be composed of the following members: (Section 1)
• The Vice Mayor as the presiding officer.
• Eight (8) regular Sanggunian members elected by popular vote in each district where they reside.
• The President of the City Chapter of the Liga ng mga Barangay.
• The President of the Panlungsod na Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan.
• Sectoral representatives as members.

Establishing Two (2) Legislative Districts in Parañaque City
- Parañaque City shall have two (2) legislative districts. (Section 2)
• The First Legislative District shall comprise the barangays of Baclaran, Tambo, Vitales, Sto. Niño, Dongalo, La Huerta, San Dionisio, and San Isidro.
• The Second Legislative District shall comprise the barangays of BF Homes, San Antonio, Sun Valley, San Martin de Porres, Don Bosco, Merville, Marcelo Green, and Moonwalk.

Election of Representatives
- The Representatives of the two (2) legislative districts shall be elected in the next national election after the passage of this Act. (Section 3)

Repealing Clause
- All laws, executive orders, rules, and regulations inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed or modified accordingly. (Section 4)

Effectivity Clause
- This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after completion of its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation. (Section 5)
