Christmas Bonus for National and Local Government Officials and Employees

- National Government Officials and Employees (Sections 1-2):
    - Rendered at least 4 months of service from January 1 to October 31 and employed as of October 31:
        - Receive one month's basic salary as Christmas bonus
        - Additional cash gift of ₱1,000
    - Rendered less than 4 months of service from January 1 to October 31 and employed as of October 31:
        - Entitled to cash gift based on length of service:
            - 3 months but less than 4 months: ₱400
            - 2 months but less than 3 months: ₱300
            - 1 month but less than 2 months: ₱200
            - Less than 1 month: ₱100

- Local Government Officials and Employees (Section 4):
    - May receive the same benefits as national government officials and employees
    - Chargeable against their respective local funds
    - For 1988, may realign budgets including released NALGU Funds to fund the requirements
    - Any deficiency may be booked as accounts payable for payment in succeeding years

- Barangay Chairmen (Section 5):
    - Shall each receive a cash gift of ₱1,000
    - Payable out of the funds provided for national government officials and employees

- Funding (Section 3):
    - For 1988, taken from Compensation and Organizational Adjustments Fund, Government Employees Amelioration Fund, and savings from Republic Act No. 6642
    - For succeeding years, included in the annual General Appropriations Act

- Maximum Benefit (Section 6):
    - No official or employee shall receive Christmas bonus from any and all sources in excess of one month's basic salary and ₱1,000 cash gift

- Implementing Rules and Regulations (Section 7):
    - The Department of Budget and Management shall issue the implementing rules and regulations

- Effectivity (Section 8):
    - The Act took effect upon its approval on December 14, 1988
