AN ACT CONVERTING THE MUNICIPALITY OF TANJAY, PROVINCE OF NEGROS ORIENTAL INTO A COMPONENT CITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF TANJAY
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
ARTICLE I
GENERAL PROVISIONSSection 1. Title. - This Act shall be known as the "Charter of the City of Tanjay."
Section 2. The City of Tanjay. - The Municipality of Tanjay shall be converted into a component city to be known as the City of Tanjay, hereinafter referred to as the City, which shall comprise the present jurisdiction of the Municipality of Tanjay, Negros Oriental Province.
The territorial jurisdiction of the City shall be within the present metes and bounds of the Municipality of Tanjay, as follows:

General Provisions:
- Converts the Municipality of Tanjay, Negros Oriental into the City of Tanjay as a component city (Section 2).

- Conduct of a plebiscite for ratification of the City's creation within 60 days (Section 52).
- Continuation of incumbent elective and appointive officials until new elections (Section 53).
- Succession of the City to assets, properties, liabilities, and obligations of the Municipality (Section 54).
- Eligibility of City voters to vote and run for provincial elective positions (Section 55).
- Continued jurisdiction of the Province of Negros Oriental over the City (Section 56).
- Suspension of increase in local tax rates for 5 years (Section 57).
- Continuation of the City as part of the Second Congressional District of Negros Oriental (Section 58).
