- Section 562, second paragraph (Sec. 1):
• The legal hours of labor, except for schools, courts, hospitals, health clinics, or where service exigencies require otherwise, shall be:
• 8 hours a day, for 5 days a week, or a total of 40 hours a week, exclusive of lunch time. (Sec. 1)
• Any employee or laborer who suffers a reduction in weekly or daily wage due to the reduction of days or hours shall receive an automatic increase in daily, hourly, or per-piece wage to compensate for the diminution. (Sec. 1)
• The salaries of monthly-paid employees shall not be diminished due to the reduction of workdays. (Sec. 1)
Hot Season Provisions
- Section 564 (Sec. 2):
• During the hot season from April 1 to June 15, the labor period is reduced to 5 continuous hours. (Sec. 2)
• For the City of Baguio, the short hours will be observed from July 1 to September 15. (Sec. 2)
• The head of any department, bureau, or office has discretion to reduce hours based on service requirements. (Sec. 2)
Applicability
- Section 3:
• The Act is applicable to all laborers employed in government-owned and controlled corporations, notwithstanding contrary provisions of existing laws.
Effectivity
- Section 4:
• The Act took effect upon its approval on June 22, 1957.

AN ACT TO AMEND THE SECOND PARAGRAPH OF SECTION FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-TWO AND SECTION FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FOUR OF THE REVISED ADMINISTRATIVE CODE. (Re legal hours of labor-minimum requirement).
Section 1. Section five hundred and sixty-two, second paragraph, of the Revised Administrative Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
