Renaming and Increasing Bed Capacity of Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center
- The Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City, Leyte is renamed to Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC). (Section 1)
- The bed capacity of EVMC is increased from 500 to 1,500 beds. Any future increase shall be based on the hospital development plan prepared by the Department of Health (DOH). (Section 2)
- The professional health care services and facilities of EVMC shall be upgraded to match the increased bed capacity. (Section 3)
- The existing workforce, including doctors, nurses, and support personnel, shall be increased correspondingly. The DOH Secretary, in consultation with the EVMC Chief and coordination with the Department of Budget and Management and Civil Service Commission, shall determine the additional positions to be created and filled. (Section 4)
- The DOH Secretary shall immediately include the implementation of this Act in the Department's program, with funding included in the annual General Appropriations Act. (Section 5)
- This Act shall take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation. (Section 6)

June 24, 2021 REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11567 AN ACT RENAMING THE EASTERN VISAYAS REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN THE CITY OF TACLOBAN, PROVINCE OF LEYTE INTO EASTERN VISAYAS MEDICAL CENTER, INCREASING ITS BED CAPACITY FROM FIVE HUNDRED (500) TO ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED (1,500) BEDS, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR SECTION 1. The Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in the City of Tacloban, Province of Leyte, is hereby renamed Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC). SECTION 2. The bed capacity of the EVMC shall be increased from five hundred (500) to one thousand five hundred (1,500) beds. Any future increase in bed capacity shall be consistent with the hospital development plan which shall be prepared by the Department of Health (DOH). SECTION 3. The existing professional health care services and facilities of the EVMC are also upgraded to conform with and be commensurate to the increase in bed capacity as provided for in Section 1 hereof.
