Summary of Presidential Decree No. 1489Creation of Barangay Marikina Heights
- Marikina Heights Subdivision in Barangay Concepcion, Municipality of Marikina, Metro-Manila is detached and separated to form a new and independent barangay called Barangay Marikina Heights. (Section 1)
- The mother barangay Concepcion continues to legally exist.
Applicability of Laws
- Except as provided, all laws applicable to regular barangays shall apply to Barangay Marikina Heights. (Section 2)
Barangay Officials
- The current elective barangay officials of Barangay Concepcion shall continue to perform their duties in the newly created Barangay Marikina Heights until new officials are appointed by the President. (Section 3)
- The appointed officials shall hold office until their successors are elected in the regular barangay elections following the issuance of this decree, unless removed earlier by the President.
- Necessary appointive officers and employees shall be appointed as provided under existing laws to organize the government personnel of Barangay Marikina Heights.
Transfer of Assets and Liabilities
- Upon the effectivity of this Decree, the proportionate share of Barangay Marikina Heights in the obligations, funds, assets, and other properties of Barangay Concepcion shall be transferred by the President upon the recommendation of the Commission on Audit. (Section 4)
Repealing Clause
- All laws, executive orders, or regulations inconsistent with this Decree are hereby repealed or modified accordingly. (Section 5)
Effectivity
- This Decree shall take effect immediately. (Section 6)

PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 1489
CREATING BARANGAY MARIKINA HEIGHTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIKINA, METRO-MANILA
WHEREAS, the basic objective of government is to accelerate the peace of socio-economic development throughout the country;
WHEREAS, the government, has engaged in intensified development projects geared towards the upliftment of the socio-economic well-being of our people;
WHEREAS, in the execution of the said governmental projects, close supervision by local officials is a necessity so as to at least approximate a certain degree of achievement which will contribute to a large extent towards the political, social and economic upliftment of the residents of the localities involved;
WHEREAS, it has been the steady desire of the inhabitants of the area affected to create the proposed barangay so as to effectively attain the goals of the New Society throughout the land;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree, as part of the law of the land, the following:...
