MALACAÑANGManila BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION No. 1254 DECLARING MONDAY, 9 MAY 2016, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC (NON-WORKING) HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY WHEREAS, the national and local elections shall be held on Monday, 9 May 2016; WHEREAS, Monday, 9 May 2016 should be declared a special public (non-working) holiday to enable the people to properly exercise their right of suffrage. NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO, III, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law do hereby declare Monday, 9 May 2016, as a special public (non-working) holiday throughout the country. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
