- On Monday, April 30, 1951, a special public holiday was declared in the Philippines. (Section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code)
- This was in response to a petition from the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, which was sponsoring a national convention of Filipino businessmen in Baguio City from April 28 to May 1, 1951.
- Since April 29, 1951, was a Sunday, and May 1 was already a public holiday, declaring April 30 as a special public holiday would not disadvantage the public in general.
