Declaring the Effectivity of the Creation of the Office of the Special Prosecutor as Provided For in the 1987 Constitution

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 244 July 24, 1987 DECLARING THE EFFECTIVITY OF THE CREATION OF THE OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR AS PROVIDED FOR IN THE 1987 CONSTITUTION WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 7, Article XI, of the 1987 Constitution, "the existing Tanodbayan shall hereafter be known as the Office of the Special Prosecutor." NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order: Sec. 1. The Office of the Special Prosecutor as provided for in Section 7, Article XI, of the 1987 Constitution is hereby declared to be now in existence. Sec. 2. The Office of the Special Prosecutor shall exercise powers presently exercised by the Tanodbayan except those conferred on the Office of the Ombudsman under the Constitution. Sec. 3. All laws, orders, issuances, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with this Executive Order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly. Sec. 4.
