MALACAÑANGManila BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES Proclamation No. 225 DESIGNATING DECEMBER 10, 1950, AS HUMAN RIGHTS DAY WHEREAS, the second anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the Palais de Chaillot, Paris, falls on December 10, 1950; WHEREAS, the peoples of the United Nations have reaffirmed in the Charter their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, and in the equal rights of men and women; WHEREAS, recognition of the inherent dignity and of equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world"; WHEREAS, Member States have pledged themselves to achieve international cooperation in promoting universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion; and WHEREAS, grave developments in international relations make it imperative that Human Rights Day be fittingly observed; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of...
