Proclamation No. 166

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 7 TO FEBRUARY 6, 1950, AS THE PERIOD FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE BOY SCOUTS AND THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES IN PLACES OUTSIDE OF GREATER MANILA.

WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines are public corporations created by law for the purpose of promoting the character development and citizenship training of the youth of the land;

WHEREAS, the activities of these two organizations are national in scope but as members of the Community Chest they benefit only from contributions derived within the territorial limits of Greater Manila;

WHEREAS, these two organizations have more than amply demonstrated that they merit the continued moral encouragement and material support of our people and that there is a great need for these organizations to make the Scouting Program available to the thousands of boys and girls all over the Philippines;

Summary of Proclamation No. 166

Designation of Period for National Fund Campaign
- The period from January 7 to February 6, 1950 is designated for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct their 1950 Fund Campaigns in the provinces and territories outside of Greater Manila.
- This is to raise funds for the attainment of their aims and purposes, either jointly or separately, as decided by the officials of both organizations.

Background and Purpose
- The Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines are public corporations created by law for promoting character development and citizenship training of the youth.
- Their activities are national in scope, but they benefit only from contributions within Greater Manila as members of the Community Chest.
- They have demonstrated their merit for continued moral encouragement and material support from the people.
- There is a need to make the Scouting Program available to thousands of boys and girls all over the Philippines.
- They need funds to carry out operations effectively, intensify nationwide training and recruiting programs, plan and promote other programs for members, and meet obligations as members of international associations.

Call to Support
- All government officials, employees, citizens, and residents outside Greater Manila are called upon to assist and give their entire support to this campaign.
- This will ensure that the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have funds to carry on their work and administer programs to as many boys and girls of Scout age as possible.
- All national authorities and teachers are authorized to accept fund-raising responsibilities and urged to give active support and leadership in their respective communities.
