Summary of Presidential Decree No. 769

Amendments to the Department of Industry
- The authority and responsibility for the Department of Industry shall be vested in the Secretary of Industry, who shall be assisted by two Undersecretaries. (Section 1, amending Section 2 of Presidential Decree No. 488)
- If the Secretary is unable to perform duties or in case of vacancy, the Undersecretary designated by the President shall temporarily perform the functions. (Section 1, amending Section 2 of Presidential Decree No. 488)

Creation of Small and Medium Industries Commission
- A Commission on Small and Medium Industries is created within the Department of Industry. (Section 2, amending Section 6 of Presidential Decree No. 488)
- The Commission shall:
    - Promote, assist, and develop medium and small-scale industries.
    - Undertake studies, surveys, research, and technical assistance programs related to medium and small-scale industries.
    - Coordinate and integrate policies and programs for technical, financial, marketing, purchasing, and promotional assistance to medium and small-scale industries rendered by various government agencies listed in the law. (Section 2, amending Section 6 of Presidential Decree No. 488)
- The listed government agencies shall nominate one representative each to the Commission for coordination, consultation, and liaison. (Section 2, amending Section 6 of Presidential Decree No. 488)
- The Commission shall replace the National Council for Medium and Small-Scale Industries. (Section 2, amending Section 6 of Presidential Decree No. 488)
