PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 1558

GRANTING EMERGENCY INCENTIVE ALLOWANCE TO CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES IN THE BUREAU OF MINES NOT COVERED BY PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 398

WHEREAS, the peculiar nature of discovering, exploring, developing and exploiting or making minerals and metals available for the benefit of the New Society demands the services of geologists, mining engineers, metallurgists, geophysicists and paleontologists;

WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 398 granted incentives allowance to geologists, mining engineers, metallurgists, geophysicists and paleontologists of the Bureau of Mines, to encourage them to stay in the government service;

WHEREAS, the said grant of incentive allowance not only restrained the outflow but also attracted into the service of the Bureau of Mines some of those who left and new crops of graduates as well;

WHEREAS, the supportive services of this Bureau who were left out of the benefits under Presidential Decree No. 398 share the responsibilities in the total process of making minerals and metals available and useful to the industry; and

Summary of Presidential Decree No. 1558

Granting Emergency Incentive Allowance to Classified Employees in the Bureau of Mines Not Covered by Presidential Decree No. 398

- Provides monthly incentive allowance to classified employees in the Bureau of Mines not covered by Presidential Decree No. 398. (Section 1)
• Employees with salary range 64 and above (annual salary P13,824 and above) receive P1,000 monthly allowance. (Section 1)
• Employees with salary range 61-63 (annual salary P11,094 to P13,152) receive P800 monthly allowance. (Section 1)
• Employees with salary range 54-60 (annual salary P8,400 to P11,328) receive P700 monthly allowance. (Section 1)
• Employees with salary range 50-53 (annual salary P6,888 to P7,992) receive P600 monthly allowance. (Section 1)
• Employees with salary range 44-49 (annual salary P5,112 to P6,552) receive P500 monthly allowance. (Section 1)
• Employees below salary range 44 (annual salary below P5,112) receive P400 monthly allowance. (Section 1)

- Appropriates P4,376,400 from savings of the Bureau of Mines for the incentive allowance, and requires inclusion of necessary amount in the annual General Appropriation Decree thereafter. (Section 2)

- Took effect immediately upon issuance on June 11, 1978. (Section 3)
