Case Overview and Summary
Summary of Presidential Decree No. 730Granting Permanent Residence to Certain Alien Non-Immigrants
- Recognizes that there is a substantial number of aliens in the Philippines who came as non-immigrants, including overstaying Chinese nationals, many of whom have married and borne families in the Philippines.
- Although Presidential Decree No. 419 allows such non-immigrant aliens to acquire permanent residence without obtaining visas abroad under paragraph 2, section 9 of the Immigration Act, they are still required to apply for immigrant visas with the Commission on Immigration and Deportation.
- A number of such aliens have already been screened by the National Intelligence Security Authority of the Philippines.
- For humanitarian considerations, the decree grants permanent residence in the Philippines to the following aliens who are currently in the Philippines as non-immigrants and have been screened and found qualified by the National Intelligence Security Authority: (See list)
- The decree takes effect immediately.
