Summary of Executive Order No. 1007Increasing the Composition of the Board of Pardons and Parole
- The membership of the Board of Pardons and Parole is increased from four to six members, in addition to the Minister of Justice as Chairman. (Section 1)
- The additional two members shall be members of the Philippine Bar for five years, appointed by the President. (Section 1)
- The composition of the Board shall be as follows: (Section 1)
- One trained sociologist
- One clergyman or educator
- One psychiatrist, unless a trained psychiatrist is employed by the Board
- One person qualified by training and experience
- Two members of the Philippine Bar for five years
- At least one member shall be a woman
- In case of vacancy, the Minister of Justice can designate a qualified person to perform duties until the President appoints a regular member. (Section 1)
Compensation of Board Members
- The Chairman and each member shall receive a per diem of 200 pesos for actual attendance at every meeting. (Section 2)
- The Executive Director shall receive a per diem of 150 pesos for actual attendance at every meeting. (Section 2)
- The total monthly per diem shall not exceed 3,500 pesos for each member. (Section 2)
- Actual and necessary traveling expenses shall be reimbursed. (Section 2)
Funding
- Any deficiency in the appropriated amount for compensation shall be charged to the savings from the appropriations of the Ministry of Justice. (Section 3)
Repealing Clause
- All laws, decrees, orders, proclamations, rules, and regulations inconsistent with this Executive Order are repealed or modified accordingly. (Section 4)
Effectivity
- This Executive Order shall take effect immediately. (Section 5)

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 1007 January 31, 1985
INCREASING THE COMPOSITION OF THE BOARD OF PARDONS AND PAROLE CREATED UNDER ACT NUMBERED FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND THREE, AS AMENDED, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE INDETERMINATE SENTENCE LAW, AND INCREASING THE COMPENSATION OF THE MEMBERS THEREOF
WHEREAS, under the New Republic, national development shall be pursued with renewed dedication and greater determination through a more efficient, effective and economical government;
WHEREAS, the present membership of the Board of Pardons and Parole created under Act Numbered Four Thousand One hundred and Three, as amended, otherwise known as the "Indeterminate Sentence Law" does not include members of the legal profession;
WHEREAS, the Board is confronted every now and then with problems involving questions of law arising from the performance of its duties;
WHEREAS, it has become imperative to increase the present membership of the Board to include two members of the Philippine Bar in order that said Board may have the services of lawyers to cope with the aforesaid problem;
