INCREASING THE SALARIES OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE AND ASSOCIATE JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT
WHEREAS, the salaries of the Chief Justice and the Associate Justices of the Supreme Court as fixed in the Constitution at P75,000 and P60,000 each, respectively, are not commensurate with the volume of judicial cases and in the complexity and importance of the responsibility involved;
WHEREAS, the policy of Government is to provide a salary scheme commensurate with the responsibilities pertaining to, and qualifications required for, the positions concerned;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby decree and order:
Section 1. The salaries of the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court are hereby fixed at P90,000 per annum for the Chief Justice and P75,000 per annum each for the Associate Justices.
Section 2. There is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated,...
