Summary of Presidential Decree No. 1514Succession to the Offices of the President and the Prime Minister
- In case of permanent disability, death or resignation of the President (Prime Minister):
- The Speaker of the Interim Batasang Pambansa shall act as President and perform the duties under Article VII of the Constitution. (Section 1)
- The Deputy Prime Minister, or if there be more than one, the Senior Deputy Prime Minister, shall act as Prime Minister, with the powers and functions prescribed under the Constitution. (Section 1)
- This shall be until the Interim Batasang Pambansa elects from among its members a President and a Prime Minister. (Section 1)
- The Speaker shall immediately convene or call to session the Interim Batasang Pambansa. (Section 2)
- The Interim Batasang Pambansa shall elect a President and a Prime Minister in accordance with Articles VII, VIII and IX of the Constitution. (Section 2)
- This Decree shall take effect immediately. (Section 3)

PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 1514
PROVIDING FOR SUCCESSION TO THE OFFICES OF THE PRESIDENT AND THE PRIME MINISTER IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE MATTER
WHEREAS, the election of the members of the Interim Batasang Pambansa makes it necessary to implement the provisions of the Constitution on the matter of succession to the Offices of the President and the Prime Minister.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby decree and order:
Section 1. In case of permanent disability, death or resignation of the President (Prime Minister), the Speaker of the Interim Batasang Pambansa shall act as President and perform the duties under Article VII of the Constitution, and the Deputy Prime Minister, or if there be more than one, the Senior Deputy Prime Minister, shall act as Prime Minister, with the powers and functions prescribed under the Constitution, until the Interim Batasang Pambansa elects from among its members...
