Reorganization of Administrative Regions in Mindanao- Section 1: Reorganizes Region IX to be known as Zamboanga Peninsula, composed of the following provinces and cities:
    - Provinces: Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay
    - Cities: Dapitan City, Dipolog City, Isabela City, Pagadian City, Zamboanga City (Section 1)
- Section 2: Reorganizes Region X (Northern Mindanao) to be composed of the following provinces and cities:
    - Provinces: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental
    - Cities: Cagayan de Oro City, Gingoog City, Iligan City, Malaybalay City, Oroquieta City, Ozamis City, Tangub City, Valencia City (Section 2)
- Section 3: Reorganizes Region XI to be known as Davao Region, composed of the following provinces and cities:
    - Provinces: Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental
    - Cities: Davao City, Digos City, Panabo City, Island Garden City of Samal, Tagum City (Section 3)
- Section 4: Reorganizes Region XII to be known as SOCCSKSARGEN, composed of the following provinces and cities:
    - Provinces: North Cotabato, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat
    - Cities: Cotabato City, General Santos City, Kidapawan City, Koronadal City, Tacurong City (Section 4)
- Section 5: Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9054, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) shall be composed of the following provinces and city:
    - Provinces: Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguinadanao, Sulu, Tawi-tawi
    - City: City of Marawi (Section 5)
- Section 6: Directs the Department of the Interior and Local Government to supervise the reorganization and publish the new composition of the administrative regions in Mindanao (Section 6)
- Section 7: Repeals or modifies orders, rules, regulations, and issuances inconsistent with this Executive Order (Section 7)
- Section 8: This Executive Order takes effect immediately upon approval (Section 8)

Executive Order No. 36             September 19, 2001
PROVIDING FOR THE REORGANIZATION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE REGIONS IN MINDANAO AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, Article X, Section 4 of the Constitution provides that the President shall exercise general supervision over local governments;
WHEREAS, the administrative regions were established to promote efficiency in the Government accelerate social and economic development and improve public services;
WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, in its Resolution No. 4561 dated August 28, 2001, has declared that the majority of the voters in the Province of Basilan (excluding Isabela City) and in the City of Marawi, respectively voted for the inclusion of their province and city in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM);
WHEREAS, in view of the inclusion of the Province of Basilan and other City of Marawi in the ARMM and in order to facilitate the supervision of local governments and the direction of the executive departments, there is an urgent need to reorganize the administrative regions...
